ARTISOFT ANNOUNCES NEW AE-3 ETHERNET ADAPTER
Compatible with Thin, Thick, and Twisted-Pair Ethernet Cabling
(TUCSON, Ariz--May 20, 1991)--Artisoft announced today its new AE-3
Ethernet Adapter that will be Novell Certified and will run on thin
or thick coax, or twisted-pair ethernet cabling. The AE-3 will be
available June 7, 1991 and for $349.
"The AE-3 provides users with a total networking solution," said Jack
Schoof, Artisoft's President and CEO. It offers maximum flexibility
to growing businesses whose networking needs may change in the
future."
The AE-3 Ethernet Adapter offers the same features as the existing
AE-2 Ethernet Adapter except for cabling. It is a 16-bit adapter
with 16K of RAM (user expandable to 64K) that automatically switches
to an 8-bit mode when placed in an 8-bit slot. The AE-3 is in 100%
compliance with IEEE 802.3 ethernet standard and has selectable I/O
addresses and support for 8 IRQs. An optional boot ROM is available
for diskless workstations.
The AE-3 Ethernet Adapter will begin shipping with a Novell Certified
driver at the end of June. The AE-3 automatically senses when using
coax or twisted-pair cable and has a link integrity LED to show when
proper connection to the twisted-pair hub is made.
